In Focus: Diabetic Eye Disease Clinical Pearls - Part 1
Overview
This activity, featuring retina specialists from Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, will mimic the format of traditional grand rounds. Drs. Balikov, Brown, Fan, and Lin will present real-world case studies of patients with diabetic eye disease as they answer questions from Basil K. Williams Jr, MD, associate professor of clinical ophthalmology and vice chair for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. The program will conclude with a brief presentation by Dr. Williams.Learn from the experiences and insights of a seasoned professional while being exposed to a diverse range of cases, evidence-based decision-making, and collaborative problem-solving.Target Audience
This certified continuing education activity is designed for comprehensive ophthalmologists and retina specialists involved in the management of patients with retinal vascular diseases.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:- Identify key risk factors and biomarkers that aid early detection and diagnosis of DR/DME
- Analyze factors that prevent translation of DR/DME clinical trial treatment efficacy into real-world treatment effectiveness
- Evaluate how advances in DR/DME treatments could improve real-world patient outcomes
- Debate the clinical significance of different measures of treatment efficacy in DR/DME and their real-world utility
- Discuss key considerations that may influence the selection, timing, and execution of treatment plans for patients with DR/DME
- Devise effective referral strategies and plans for comanagement of DR/DME with eye care and non-eye care specialists
